A Radiant Rushing Road Win
Concordia rushed for a season-high 445 yards and cruised to a 58-12 win at Hamline. The Cobbers scored on four of their first five possessions and recorded seven rushing TDs in posting their third straight win.
ST. PAUL, Minn. (10/11/25)---For the second straight week, Concordia broke out to a fast start and used a dominating rushing offense to cruise to an MIAC victory.
The Cobbers scored 17 first-quarter points en route to a 58-12 win at Hamline. The 58 points are a season-high for CC and the most since Concordia put up 58 against the Pipers on Homecoming in 2023.
Concordia scored on four of its first five possessions of the game as they bolted to a 23-0 halftime lead. CC would then push the margin to 44-0 at the start of the fourth quarter on long-distance runs from Mason Hughes, Griffin Babolian and Nick Walter.
The Cobbers posted 553 total offensive yards on the day behind a ground game that racked up a season-high 445 yards. The last time Concordia rushed for over 400 yards in a game was in 2022 when they put up 400 rushing yards against Presentation. The 415 rushing yards is the most since 2019 when CC stuck 530 rush yards on the Pipers.
Concordia also forced three turnovers, all on fumbles, and scored the game-winning touchdown on a fumble recovery off of a kickoff.
Hughes, Babolian and Walter spearheaded the Cobber ground game. The trio combined to score six of the team's eight touchdowns with each player getting two TDs each.
Hughes finished the day with 132 rushing yards on 15 carries. It was his second 100-yard rushing game of the year as he put up 100 yards against Mayville State in the opener.
Babolian went for 89 yards on eight carries and Walter came away with the first 100-yard rushing game of his career. He ran the ball eight times and had 104 rushing yards.
Davion Henderson and Dylan Johnson were responsible for the other two TDs for the Cobbers. Henderson caught a 10-yard pass from Jersey Selzler at the end of the first quarter and Johnson capped the scoring with a 2-yard run late in the fourth quarter.
Henderson has now caught at least one touchdown pass in three of the five games this season and he is tied with Babolian, Walter and Hughes for the team lead in TDs (4).
Selzler was 7-for-18 for 74 yards and the one TD as the CC signal caller. Walter backed up his 100-yard rushing day by going 5-for-8 for 38 yards.
JD Cea led the Concordia defense with 7.0 total tackles. Derek Dorsey recorded a team-high 2.0 tackles for a loss and also picked up one of the three Cobber fumble recoveries. Troy Hansen and Elijah Hayes had the other two scoops for CC.
Hansen and Ron Addo added the two sacks in the game for the Blackshirts.
Concordia will return to Moorhead where they will face No.13-ranked St. John's on Saturday, Oct. 11 at 1 p.m.
Hansen was also one of the three Cobber players to recover a fumble in the win.
