Henderson Leads Homecoming Offensive Parade
Junior wide receiver Davion Henderson recorded a school-record 211 receiving yards and led the the Cobber offensive parade as they beat St. Scholastica 49-21 in the annual Homecoming game.
MOORHEAD, Minn. (10/04/25)---Concordia held its annual Homecoming parade at 11 a.m. in front of Jake Christiansen Stadium and then the Cobber offense held its own parade inside The Jake for four quarters against St. Scholastica.
Concordia put up a season-high 609 yards of total offense on their way to a wire-to-wire 49-21 win over the Saints.
The Cobbers scored 14 points in each of the first three quarters as the posted their highest point total of the season.
The offensive explosion on Homecoming helped Concordia move its overall record to 3-1 on the season. CC is now 2-1 in MIAC play. St. Scholastica, who entered the game with a similar 2-1 mark in all games and 1-1 in conference play, falls to 2-2 and 1-2.
The offensive spotlight belonged to junior wide receiver Davion Henderson, who broke the program record for receiving yards in a single game. Henderson caught nine passes for 211 yards and two touchdowns. His 211 receiving yards eclipsed the record of Andrew Passanante, who was inducted into the Cobber Athletics Hall of Fame on Saturday, and had 206 yards against Hamline on Oct. 9, 2004.
Henderson was responsible for the first two touchdowns of the game as Concordia bolted to a 28-0 lead in the second quarter. He caught a 9-yard pass from Jersey Selzler on the team's first possession and then hauled in a 62-yard scoring strike with 4:31left in the opening quarter.
Selzler also had a career day as he went 21-for-29 for 376 yards and threw for three touchdowns.
His other scoring strike came in the fourth quarter when he found Griffin Babolian in the flat on the 5-yard line and Babolian plowed his way into the end zone.
Sophomore quarterback Nick Walter accounted for three scores. He rushed in from 1-yard out at the start of second quarter to give CC a 21-0 lead, connected with Grant Mages on a timing pattern in the corner of the end zone just before halftime that staked the Cobbers to a 28-0 lead and scored Concordia's first TD of the second half when he ran the ball into the end zone from 3 yards out.
Walter rushed the ball six time for 20 yards and was 4-for-6 for 41 yards through the air.
Mason Hughes had the other touchdown for the Cobbers when he put up a13-yard run with 3:56 left in the third quarter.
In addition to their season-high total offensive yard total, Concordia had a season-high passing and rushing totals. CC had 417 passing yards in the game and recorded 191 rushing yards.
Jake Merseth caught four passes for 75 yards and Alejandro Sanchez made three catches for 52 yards.
Hughes came away with a team-high 70 rushing yards and Babolian added another 68 yards.
The Cobber Blackshirt defense limited Jevon Williams, who entered the game as the conference's leading rusher to 80 yards on 18 carries.
Kyle Mages led the defense with 8.0 total tackles.
The Cobbers also came away with their first sacks of the season. Ethan Larson had a game-high 2.0 tackles for a loss and 1.0 sacks.
Concordia will go on the road to face Hamline on Saturday, Oct. 11 at 1 p.m.
