Silus Named To The D3football.com National Team Of The Week

MOORHEAD, Minn. (9/14/21)---Concordia freshman punter/kicker Damien Silus (Glencoe, Minn.) was named to the D3football.com National Team of the Week for his punting performance against Presentation on Saturday.

Silus becomes the first Cobber player to earn National Team of the Week honors since Alex Berg and Willie Julkes were named to the team in back-to-back weeks at the end of the 2019 season.

Silus becomes the second Concordia punter to win the award in the history of the program. Eddie Clifton was named to the D3football.com National Team of the Week on Oct. 7, 2015 after averaging 48.8 yards per punt in the Cobbers' win over Bethel.

The award follows Silus' selection as the MIAC Special Team Player of the Week.

Silus was one of the many assets the Cobbers used in rolling over Presentation 55-14 on Saturday to pick up the first win of the season.

Silus averaged 47.7 yards per punt for his three punts against Presentation – and had all three punts end up inside the 20-yard line. His top punt of the day was a 56-yard high-arching spiral that stopped dead on the 1-foot line. In addition to his punting prowess, Silus made seven extra points on the day and had four kickoffs finish as touchbacks.

Silus is averaging 41.4 yards per punt this season which is second best in the MIAC and in the Top 10 in the nation. He also leads the conference in touchbacks on kickoffs. He has hammered seven kicks that haven't been returned this year.
