Johnson Is D3football All-American

MOORHEAD, Minn. (12/15/17)---Chad Johnson capped his record-setting career by being named to the D3football.com All-American Second Team. He becomes the fourth Cobber player to earn All-American honors in the past six years.

He is the first Concordia All-American since 2013 when Nate Adams and Kenyon O'Brien both earned the award from D3football.com.

 Johnson was eligible for All-American honors after being placed on the D3football.com All-West Region First Team.

The D3football.com All-America Team was chosen from the online organization's All-Region Teams that were released on Dec. 5. A total of 1,037 players were nominated by Division III sports information directors for All-Region recognition.

Johnson earns his first-ever All-American honor after breaking the school record for touchdowns in a career. He finished his four years in maroon and gold with 42 touchdowns. Johnson also finished second on the Cobbers' all-time rushing list with 2,699 career yards.

Johnson was named the MIAC Most Valuable Player as well as earning his third straight all-conference award.

Johnson led the MIAC in rushing yards, rushing yards per game, touchdowns and points. Johnson rushed for 982 yards in the team's eight league games which averaged out to 122.8 yards per game. He ran for over 400 more yards than the next player in the MIAC.

Johnson rushed for over 100 yards in all but two of the team's 10 overall games in 2017. He ran for over 140 yards on five occasions and had a career-high 203 rushing yards in the team's win at Carleton.

Johnson scored 17 touchdowns in 2017 and accounted for 102 points. His 17 TDs was the second highest single season total in Cobber football history.
