Bio

Rachel Bergeson was hired as Athletic Director for Concordia College in the summer of 2018. 

Prior to her being named as the athletic director Bergeson was the interim athletic director from April-June in 2018 as well as the entire 2016-17 athletic season. Before her time as interim athletic director Bergeson was the deputy athletics director, senior woman administrator and compliance officer for Concordia.

Bergeson is the first female athletic director in Cobber athletic history. She is only the fifth athletic director Concordia has had since 1976.

Before her role as the top women’s administrator in the Concordia athletic department, Bergeson was the assistant coach for the Cobber women’s basketball team from 2007-11. During her time as the team’s full-time assistant coach Bergeson helped Concordia to a 92-43 overall record and a spot in the MIAC playoffs in five straight seasons.

Bergeson also played for Concordia during her undergraduate years. She graduated from Concordia in 2005 with a degree in Biology Education.

Following her years as a student at Concordia Bergeson taught 7th and 8th grade science in Braham, Minn. She was also the assistant varsity girls’ basketball coach and junior high volleyball coach during her stay at Braham from 2005-06.

Bergeson also holds a master’s degree in Health, Nutrition and Exercise Science with an emphasis in Sport Pedagogy and Sport Leadership from North Dakota State University.

Bergeson is the daughter of Concordia Hall of Fame baseball coach Bucky Burgau.

She lives in Moorhead with her husband Bryant and sons Tyden and Tate.
