Championship Team Success Continues

WAVERLY, IOWA (11/16/19)---Team success at championship meets continued for the Cobbers. Two weeks ago Concordia posted its first Top 5 finish at the MIAC Championship Meet in 19 years. They kept that success going on Saturday as they recorded their first Top 10 finish at the NCAA Regional Meet since 2012.

The Cobbers had all five of their team scoring members finish in the Top 90 and posted a 10th-place finish at the regional meet held at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa. The 10th-place finish is also a 2-spot improvement from last year's finish at the NCAA Regional Meet.

While the team found new heights of success, junior Meritt Miller and senior Kara Andersen repeated their success from last season at the regional meet. Both athletes led recorded their second straight All-Region finish.

Miller placed 24th in a time of 23:32.5 to earn her second straight All-Region honor while Andersen was nine seconds behind on the 6K course and crossed the line in a time of 23:41 to finish in the No.30 spot. The Top 35 finishers and ties earn All-Region awards.

Miller and Andersen were also the team's Top 2 finishers at the MIAC Championship Meet on Nov. 2.

There was a change in the team's No.3 finisher for the region meet. Isabel Fredrickson was No.4 for the Cobbers at the MIAC Meet but jumped into the Top 3 for regions. She recorded a time of 24:45.7 and placed 73rd. The Top 75 finish for Fredrickson is huge improvement over last year when she placed 123rd in a time of 24:49.7.

Emily Rugloski also improved on her region showing from last year. She covered the course in 24:54.3 on Saturday which was good for 81st place.

Senior Miriah Forness posted her first Top 100 finish at the region meet. Last year she was 105th but moved up to the No.88 spot this year with a time of 25:05.5.

Amelia Landsverk and Carly Fornshell were just outside the Top 100. Landsverk ran a 25:37.3 and Fornshell was 5.8 seconds behind at 25:43.0.
