Team & Individual Title Defense

JAMESTOWN, N.D. (10/04/19)---Regionally-ranked Concordia successfully defended its Jamestown Invite title as they had the Top 3 finishers at the meet and won the team title by 35 points over second-place Dickinson State.

In addition to posting a 1-2-3 finish, the Cobbers had all five of their team-scoring runners finish in the Top 8, had seven athletes in the Top 15 and finished with a team score of 19 points.

Concordia's Top 5 finishers also posted times that were faster than their marks at last year's Jamestown Invite.

The Cobbers finished with 26 points to win last year's meet and only had three runners in the Top 8 of the final standings.

Not only did the team result remain the same, but the Cobbers also had the same harrier claim the top spot at the meet. Senior Kara Andersen also defended her title as she ran an 18:42 over the 5K course and won the meet by almost 20 seconds. Her finishing time is also 19 seconds faster than her winning time of 19:01 from last year.

Her individual championship result also marks the first time this season that Andersen has been the team's No.1 runner. Junior Meritt Miller claimed the top spot for CC in the first two meets of the year and then senior Miriah Forness stepped into the No.1 position two weeks ago at Carleton.

Miller teamed with fellow junior Josie Herrmann to give CC the 1-2-3 finish. Miller clocked a 19:02 and was second while Herrmann posted a mark of 19:13 and was in third place. Both times are an improvement over last year's mark when Miller came home in 19:09 and Herrmann was the No.7 finisher on the team with a time of 20:34.

Isabel Fredrickson nearly gave Concordia a 1-2-3-4 finish. She placed fifth in a time of 19:25 which was three seconds off the No.4 finisher's time. Her time is over a minute faster than the mark she clocked at last year's Jamestown Invite when she finished in 19th place.

Forness completed the Cobbers' scoring runners for the meet. She finished in eighth place with a time of 19:44. That mark is 12 seconds quicker than her finishing time in 2018.

Emily Rugloski, Amelia Landsverk and Carly Fornshell gave Concordia eight runners in the Top 20 of the meet. Rugloski was 10th with a time of 20:04, Landsverk was 14th at 20:15 and Fornshell 20:29.
