A Trio Of Top 25 Finishers At Carleton

NORTHFIELD, Minn. (9/21/19)--- Concordia placed fifth in a tough field, which featured the Cobbers first look at MIAC competition on the year, at the Carleton Running of the Cows. The Cobbers were spurred on by a trio of Top 25 finishes.

The 6k course proved a challenge for all competitors with wet and humid conditions. The temperature at race time was 75 degrees with the humidity near 90-perecent.

Runners described the course as, "hilly, brutal and mentally challenging." The weather and course conditions didn't stop the Cobber women from having success against a nationally and regionally-ranked field.

Senior Miriah Forness led the Cobber women for the first time in her career as she placed 11th in a time of 23:50.

Fellow senior Kara Andersen was the team's No.2 runner, crossing the line in 24:08 and coming home in 21st place – her second straight Top 22 finish. Josie Herrmann rounded out the trio of top 25 finishers. She had a finishing time of 24:18 and was 25th. It was also Herrmann's second straight Top 25 finish.

Sophomore Isabel Fredrickson came across in 84th place in 25:49. Freshman Amelia Landsverk continued her stellar first-year campaign, crossing the line five seconds behind Frederickson  in 87th place. They rounded out the team's Top 7 finishers.

Juniors Emily Hao and Carly Fornshell finished the course in 26:13 and 26:25. UP NEXT: Concordia is back in action on October 4 at the Jimmie Invite. The race distance will drop to 5k for the next two races before the team returns to Carleton for the MIAC Championship on November 2. Concordia's early-season success could be the fuel for a strong season as they continue training hard in Moorhead.
