A Blustery Final Meet Prep

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (10/13/18)--- Concordia stepped up in class in their final competition before the MIAC Conference Championship Meet as they finished in fourth place at the UND Ron Pynn Classic. The Cobbers were the only Division III squad at the cold and blustery race which featured three NCAA Division I teams and a pair of Division II schools.

Junior Kara Andersen, the reigning MIAC Athlete of the Week, once again led the pack of maroon and gold harriers at the meet. She posted a Top 20 finish by placing 16th among the scholarship athletes. Andersen ran a 19:08 over the 5K course which marks the second straight meet she has covered the track in less than 19:10.

Andersen has now posted a Top 20 finish four of the five meets this season as she prepares for the conference meet.

For the third straight meet sophomore Meritt Miller was the team's No.2 finisher. She clocked a 19:26 and came home in 25th place. It is her second straight Top 25 finish and her second straight sub-19:30 finish on a 5K course.

Senior Brianna Gruenberg and junior Miriah Forness were the team's No.3 and No.4 runners for the second straight week. Gruenberg was 31st in a time of 19:41 and Forness crossed the line in 20:08 which was good for 38th place.

UP NEXT: Concordia will have two weeks to train and get ready for the MIAC Conference Meet which will be held on Saturday, Oct. 27 at St. Olaf College. The Cobbers will be looking to improve on their 9th-place finish a year ago.
