Andersen Earns MIAC Weekly Honor

MOORHEAD, Minn. (10/09/18)---Concordia junior Kara Andersen (Plymouth, Minn./Armstrong) was named the MIAC Athlete of the Week for her meet-winning performance at the Jamestown Invitational.

Andersen becomes the first Cobber women's cross country runner to win the conference weekly honor since the 2015 season when Kaya Baker earned the award on Oct. 15.

Andersen posted her award-winning performance by winning the Jamestown Invitational in a time of 19:01 which is 30 seconds faster than her time last year when she finished 18th at the same meet. It is the second event win of the year for Andersen and her finishing time is the fastest in a 5K this season.

Andersen's win at the Jamestown meet helped the Cobbers win the team title by 29 points. Andersen was one of three Top 5 finishers for Concordia at the meet.

Andersen has been the Cobbers' No.1 runner in all four meets this year. She will hope to continue her season success when Concordia competes in the Ron Pynn Invite at the University of North Dakota on Saturday, Oct. 13 at 12:30 p.m.
