Running In Moorhead Suits Andersen

MOORHEAD, Minn. (9/07/18)---Kara Andersen's dominance in Moorhead continued as the junior led the Cobbers at the MSU Moorhead Twilight Meet.

Andersen has now been Concordia's No.1 runner in six meets over the past two seasons and four of those have come inside the Moorhead city limits. Last week she paced CC by winning the Cobber Invite and on Friday she was the lone Top 20 finisher at the Dragon's home meet.

Andersen ran a 19:24 over the 5K course and placed 14th in the meet that was dominated by NCAA Division II and NAIA schools. Last year Andersen ran a 15:07, and finished 25th, over the course that was only a 4K.

Andersen's Top 20 finish helped Concordia place fifth in the team standings. The Cobbers were a single point behind Dickinson State and four points shy of Valley City State who finished third in the final team standings.

The senior duo of Tarja Nelsen and Brianna Gruenberg crossed the line within five seconds of one another to record the No.2 and 3 finishes for CC. Nelsen clocked a 20:02 and was 27th while Gruenberg was 29th in a time of 20:07.

The next five finishers for Concordia were all collegiate cross country newcomers. Freshman Emily Rugloski was the team's No.4 runner after posting a time of 20:24. She was less than three second ahead of junior Miriah Forness who is out for cross country for the first time in her career and ran a 20:27 to finish in 36th place. Josie Hermann was the final team scorer for CC. She came home in 20:35 and finished 38th.
