Four In Top 60 = Top 10 Finish

NORTHFIELD, Minn. (10/01/16)—Concordia placed its Top 4 runners in the Top 60 at the 267-runner Running of the Cows Invite hosted by Carleton. The Cobbers used their first four to place ninth as a team.

The Cobbers had all four of their top athletes cover the 6K course in under 25:05 and were once again led by sophomore Brianna Gruenberg. Gruenberg ran a 24:19.1 and finished in 28th place at the highly competitive meet.

The team No.1 finish marks the second straight meet she has led the team. She has now been in the Top 2 of the team in all four meets this year. Last year Gruenberg finished in the Top 25 at the MIAC Meet and in the Top 50 at the NCAA Regional Meet.

Sarah Curran, who was the team's No.1 runner in the first two meets of the year, was a little more than 5-seconds behind Gruenberg. She finished 32nd with a time of 24:24.8.

Kaya Baker and Kara Andersen were neck-and-neck down the finish and gave Concordia their third and fourth finishers in the Top 60 at the meet. Baker got the better of Andersen at the finish by a mere .08 of a second. Baker completed the trek in 25:03.5 and was 57th while Andersen was 58th in a time of 25:04.3.

Sophomore Sara Whiteman was the final member of the team to have her finish count in the team standings. Whiteman came home with a mark of 25:21.0 which was good for 71st place.

WHAT'S NEXT: Concordia will return to the hometown of head coach Marv Roeske to participate in the Jamestown Invite held at the Pipestem Dam on Friday, Oct. 7 at 4 p.m. The Cobbers will then act as hosts for the annual Cobber Homecoming 5K Fun Run on Saturday, Oct. 8 at 9 a.m.
