MIAC Honors For Baker And Gruenberg

ST. PAUL, Minn. (10/31/15) --- Kaya Baker and Brianna Gruenberg posted Top 25 finishes at the MIAC Championship Meet and helped the Cobbers to a seventh-place team finish.

Baker ran a 23:22.7 and finished in 15th place which earns her MIAC All-Conference honors. It is the first time in her career that she has earned all-conference honors. Baker clipped almost 33 seconds off her time from last year when she crossed the line in 39th place at 23:55.

Concordia improved four spots from last year's 11th-place finish. Last year the Cobbers had 295 team points and averaged 25:07.2 for their top 5 runners. On Saturday CC had a final team total of 192 and averaged 24:27.8 for the top 5 athletes.

Gruenberg earns All-Conference Honorable Mention honors in her very first conference meet. She spanned the 6k course in a time of 23:57.9 and finished in 25th place. Gruenberg crossed the line almost 40 seconds ahead of the team's No.3 runner.

Conference meet veterans Sarah Curran, Melissa Uhrich and Sierra Kolle were the Cobbers' No.3, 4 and 5 runners. Curran, who finished in 54th place in a time of 24:41.6 at last year's meet, earned her first top 40 MIAC finish on Saturday. Curran came home in 39th place with a time of 24:37.3.

Uhrich and Kolle were neck-and-neck down the chute and finished within 1.8 seconds of one another. Uhrich placed 56th with a mark of 25:09.6 and Kolle was 57th at 25:11.4.

WHAT'S NEXT: Concordia will now prepare for the NCAA Regional Meet. The Cobbers will compete at regionals on Saturday, Nov. 21 at 11 a.m. at Wis.-Oshkosh.
