No Signs Of Rust After Two-Week Break

JAMESTOWN, N.D. (10/10/14)—A two-week break didn't dampen the competitive spirits of Kaya Baker and the rest of the Cobbers. Baker posted another top 20 finish and led Concordia to fifth place at the Jamestown Invite.

Concordia, which hadn't run participated in a competitive meet since Sept. 27, had its top 5 runners all finish in the top 40 of the 73-athlete meet.

Baker once again led the Cobbers. She has now been the team's No.1 runner in all five events of the season and has posted three top 20 finishes. Baker, who was given the task to stay with the top 2 runners from the University of Jamestown, finished in a time of 19:36.00 on the 5k course and came home in 18th place. She has now recorded sub-19:40 times in both 5k events she has run this season.

Freshman Sarah Curran earned her third top 25 finish of the year. She placed 25th at the Jamestown in a time of 20:25.00. She has been the team's No.2 runner in all five meets this season.

Anna Sneltjes, Anja Smith and Susan Drache paced one another and all crossed the line within 22-seconds of one another. The "pack" mentality helped Smith and Drache post their fastest 5k time of the season. Sneltjes led the trio with a time of 21:02.00 which was good for 32nd place. Smith was close behind Sneltjes and ran a 21:15.00 and earned the No.33 spot in the individual standings. Drache was four spots behind Smith 37th place with a mark of 21:24.00.

Concordia will host the annual Cobber 5k Fun Run as part of the Homecoming festivities on Saturday, Oct. 11. The Cobbers will return to race form when they participate in the Crown College Invite on Saturday, Oct. 18.
