Knickerbocker Continues Breakout Season

ST. PAUL, Minn. (9/29/12)—Hannah Knickerbocker continued her breakout junior season as she ran a 23:48 and finished 25th at the Roy Griak Invitational hosted by the University of Minnesota. It marked the first time since 2008 that a Cobber runner has posted a top 25 finish at the prestigious regional meet.

Knickerbocker's top 25 finish paved the way for Concordia to place 14th as a team. It marks the second straight year that the Cobbers have finished in the top 15 as a team. Knickerbocker's time is also the fastest at the Griak since Hailey Brenden ran a 23:38 in 2008.

The Cobbers had two other runners finish in the top 80 at the meet. Junior Paige Rygg clocked a 24:38 and placed 69th while sophomore Kathryn Stalnaker came home in 24:49 and finished in 78th place. It is the first time all season that the two runners have been in the top 3 for the team and both times are Roy Griak bests for each athlete.

Kasey Peterson and Liz Hanson rounded out the top 5 for Concordia. Peterson finished with a time of 25:31 and Hanson was eight seconds behind with a mark of 25:39.

Concordia will have another two-week break before returning to competition at the Jimmie Invitational on Friday, Oct. 12 at the Hillcrest GC at 4 p.m. That will be the last team meet before the MIAC Championship Meet on Saturday, Oct. 27.
