Cobbers Earn AVCA Team Academic Honors

MOORHEAD, Minn. (7/18/22)---The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced that Concordia has earned the USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award.

The Team Academic Award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale.

It is the second straight season the Concordia has earn ed the AVCA Team Academic Award. The Cobbers finished 2021-22 with a team grade point average of 3.50.

Concordia had six student-athletes named to the MIAC Academic All-Conference Team which was announced in January. Anna Brakke, Casey Coste, Karlie Goschen, Chloe Markovic, Taylor Streyle and Kendra Wiggs all earned MIAC individual academic honors.   

The AVCA recognized more than 1,200 collegiate and high school volleyball programs with the award this season.

Concordia went 9-17 in 2021. The nine overall wins ties for the most since the 2015 season. The Cobbers finished the year by winning three of their last six matches.
