Fourth-Set Rally Falls Short

MOORHEAD, Minn. (10/19/19)---Concordia rallied from a 2-0 deficit against Augsburg, won the third set and was five points away from forcing a fifth set before falling 3-1 (25-12, 25-13, 21-2, 25-12).

Concordia started slow, hitting under .000 in the first two sets, before finding their offensive rhythm and coming through with a match-high .478 in the fourth set.

The loss drops Concordia's record to 5-16 in all matches. CC is now 2-5 in the MIAC. Augsburg wins for the fifth straight time and is now 18-4 overall and 5-2 in league play.

The Cobbers led 20-17 in the fourth set after winning four of five points against the Auggies with the score tied at 16-16. Augsburg then won six straight points to take a 23-20 lead. Concordia would stop the streak and get to within two at 23-21 before the Auggies won two of the final three points to record the 25-22 victory.

Concordia finished the match by hitting .062 for the four sets but they were able to post an attack percentage above .275 in the final two sets. Augsburg hit .308 for the match. The Cobbers had 35 kills as compared to 49 for Augsburg.
