Cobbs Beat Webster In Classic Finale

WAVERLY, Iowa (9/14 /2019).. The Concordia College women's volleyball team split in the final day of the Wartburg Knight Classic. The Cobbers fell to tournament host Wartburg in three straight sets, but finished the day with a 3-0 win over Webster. 

Concordia defeated Webster 25-22, 25-20, and 25-18 to earn their 3rd win of the season. Anna Brakke led the attack tallying 16 kills, followed by fellow outside hitter Gabby Renelt who racked up 8 kills. Junior Bailey Gronner  and senior Brianna Carney helped balace the Cobber attack and recorded 8 and 5 kills, respectively.

The Cobber defense held Webster to .073 hitting percentage on the day. First year Gabby DeBoer led the way with 17 digs, while setter, Jill Klaphake chipped in with double-digit digs, recording 13 total. Gronner provided a big block on the rightside by recording two solo blocks and assited on two others. 

UP NEXT: The Cobbers start conference play on Wednesday, hosting St. Catherines at Memorial Auditorium at 7pm.
