All Out Attack

STORY LINE: Concordia trailed for only the beginning of the third set and cruised to a sweep (25-11, 25-15, 25-15) over Macalester. The Cobbers hit over .350 in all three sets and limited the Scot offense to a .050 attack percentage as they won for the first time in MIAC play.

RECORDS: The Cobbers win for the second time in the last three matches and move to 5-10 overall and 1-1 in league play. Macalester is now 7-8 in all matches and 0-2 in the conference.

ATTACK MODE: Concordia hit .425 for the match which is a season best and the highest attack percentage in a match since they hit .451 against Northland in the fourth match of the 2013 season.

KILLER B'S: Junior Brianna Carney and sophomore Bailey Gronner gave Macalester fits at the net all match long. Carney finished with a match-high nine kills and added three blocks while Gronner, who earned All-Tournament honors at the Wis.-Eau Claire Invite last weekend, came away with seven winners and a block. Carney hit .900 for the match while Gronner came away with a mere .700 kill percentage.

WIGGS FLEW: Freshman Kendra Wiggs had her best match in maroon and gold. Wiggs was a force in the first set and came away with career-high eight kills and hit .538 for the match. Her previous career high for winners was six which she had on two occasions.

HARD "C" SOUND: Sophomores Jill Klaphake and Casey Coste directed the offense and defense for the Cobbers. Klaphake finished with 23 assists while Coste recorded 16 digs. Klaphake now has 711 assists in her time at CC while Coste has 322 digs.

UP NEXT: Concordia will stay inside conference play but will head out on the road for their next match. The Cobbers will play in Minneapolis when they take on Augsburg on Saturday, Sept. 22 at 3 p.m. The Auggies are 12-2 overall and 1-1 in the MIAC and swept St. Mary's on Wednesday.
