STORY LINE: Concordia fell behind 8-2 and then 15-4 in the first set against Valley City State, led for only three points in the second set, and fell 3-0 (25-9, 25-21, 25-19) in the home opener. The Cobbers best stretch of play came in the second set when they went on a 7-0 run to cut a 23-13 deficit into a 3-point margin at 23-20. CC was never able to get past the Vikings and lost 25-21 in the middle set.
RECORDS: The Cobbers were swept for the third straight match and fall to 2-3 on the season. Valley City wins for the third time in the last five matches and is now 3-6 on the season.
STAT STUFF: Cobber freshman Anna Brakke led the team in kills with five and was tied for the team lead in digs with six. Kortney Carney had a team-high 11 assists while sophomore Jill Klaphake added seven.
UP NEXT: Concordia will head to St. Joseph to take part in the St. benedict Invite. The Cobbers will face Simpson on Friday, Sept. 7 and then get Valley City in a rematch on Saturday. Concordia will also square off against host St. Benedict on Saturday.
