Career Highs Lead To 5-Set Win

ST. PAUL, Minn. (10/15/15)—A pair of 3-0 runs in the fifth set and three players posting career-high stat totals helped Concordia outlast St. Catherine 3-2 (25-18, 22-25, 25-22, 25-27, 15-8).

The win keeps the Cobbers near the top of the MIAC standings. Concordia is now 5-2 in league play and in a two-way tie for fourth place. CC is only one loss behind second place. The Cobbers are now 12-5 on the season. The 12 wins match the total from last season when they went 12-12.

The key for Concordia was its offense where they had five players record double-digit kill totals. The Cobbers finished with 73 winners as compared to only 51 for the Wildcats. CC also hit above .225 in three of the five sets including a .273 mark in the fifth, and deciding, set.

Anna Skow-Anderson, Kathleen Lippert, Heather Beaner and Haley Cuppett combined for 43 of the team's 73 kills. Skow-Anderson had a season-high 12 kills. She had a match-high .355 attack percentage as she earned her fifth double-digit kill total of the season.

Junior Jena Klaphake was the quarterback of the offense for most of the night and played a high level. She came away with a career-high 43 assists.

Concordia's defense came up big when it needed to. The Cobbers held St. Catherine to a .000 attack percentage in the fifth set.

Korbyn Ross recorded a career-high in digs. She finished with 32 digs and also tied a career-high with three service aces.
