Successful Start To MIAC Road Trip Weekend

NORTHFIELD, Minn. (9/27/13)—Concordia swept Carleton 27-25, 25-17, 25-16 in the first match of the annual MIAC back-to-back road trip weekend. Kynndyl Ross led all players with 16 kills as she helped CC win for the fifth time in the last six matches.

The Cobbers started the road trip slowly and had to grind out an extra-point victory in the first set. A pair of kills by Ross and two errors from the Knights helped CC win 27-25.   

The second and third sets were all Concordia as they doubled up the Knights in kills in the final two contests 34-17. The Cobbers hit .385 in the second set and then limited Carleton to a -.022 attack percentage in the final set.

Concordia finished the match with a .218 attack percentage. Ross and senior Kayla Hampton both hit above .300 for the match. Ross had 36 total chances and hit .333 while Hampton had 12 kills, had a match-best .381 attack percentage and chipped in four blocks.   

Alyssa Schmidt and Angie Waller combined for 30 digs on the night. Schmidt had 16 digs while Waller put up 14 digs and two blocks. Both Mandy Mercil and Jena Klaphake came away with 20 assists for the three sets.  

The Cobbers will now head farther south when they play at St. Mary's in Winona on Saturday, Sept. 28 at 3 p.m.
