Another Preseason Top 25 Ranking

MOORHEAD, Minn. (8/09/11)—Concordia will begin 2012 in a very familiar position – ranked in the top 25 of the nation. The Cobbers enter the season with the No.19 ranking in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) preseason poll. It is the ninth straight year that CC has been ranked in the national preseason poll.

Concordia is coming a season where they earned another trip to the NCAA Tournament. The Cobbers used the most of the national postseason by advancing to the NCAA Regional Final for the second time in four seasons. Unfortunately for Tim Mosser and his 2012 crew, Concordia graduated three All-Americans from last year's squad. That included MIAC MVP Jenna Green. Front row mate Katie Vohnoutka and setter Amy Sykora will also be greatly missed during the 2012 season.

The Cobbers return three starters from last year. Senior libero Rachel Wiinanen and middle hitters Kelly Reed and Alison Bruggeman will be counted on to carry the majority of the work load early in the season. Wiinanen was second on the team in digs last year while Reed was fifth on the team in kills.

Concordia opens the season at the UW-Eau Claire Tournament on Aug. 31 when they play Martin Luther and the host Blugolds. CC opens MIAC play on Sept. 12 when they play at Hamline at 7 p.m.
