Selle Closes Out Day 1 Of Heptathlon With 200 PR
NORTHFIELD, Minn. (5/04/23)---Defending champion Peyton Selle isn't in the lead after Day 1 of the MIAC heptathlon, but unfortunately for the other athletes in the event – Selle is lurking.
Selle finished the first four events of the heptathlon with 2,525 points, which places her in the No.4 spot heading into the final three events on Friday. She is only 91 points behind the leader – and 74 points shy of second place.
Selle closed the gap heading into Friday by recording a career-best time in the 200 meters – the final event on Thursday. She clocked a 27.01 which bettered her previous PR of 27.27 and earned her 711 points for the event.
The 200 was one of two events where Selle recorded more than 700 points. The other 700-plus-point event came in the opener, where she ran a 15.66 in the 100-meter hurdles and came away with 756 points.
Selle scored a combined total of 1,058 points in the two field events. She cleared 4-07.75 in the high jump and then posted a distance of 32-06.25 in the shot put. Her mark in the high jump gave her 534 points, and the shot put earned her 524 points.
