Ethen & Kenning Compete At CSB

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. (4/18/21)---Concordia had three athletes compete at the St. Benedict 4th Weekly Invitational Meet and Multi-Event competition.

The Cobbers were led by freshman Peyton Selle who finished third in the heptathlon with an MIAC-best score of 3,876 points. Her total is also No.20 in Division III this season.

Concordia field athletes Corrie Ethen and Avery Kenning competed in the high jump, long jump and triple jump in the main part of the meet.

Selle proved that she will be a force to be reckoned with in the MIAC multi events over the next four years. She was the top MIAC finisher in the heptathlon at the meet – and was only bested by a pair of NCAA Division II athletes.

Selle scored over 600 points in a pair of events and posted four Top 3 finishes in events among the nine competitors at the meet. Her top scoring event came right at the start. She raced to a personal-best time of 16.13 in the 100-meter hurdles and won the race by .43 of a second. Selle's winning time netted her 698 points.

Selle also went above the 600-point mark in the 200 meters. She clocked a 28.35 which was good for 604 points. Her other Top 3 finishes came in the high jump, javelin and 800 meters. Selle was second in the javelin with a distance of 91-0 which earned her 434 points. She got 581 points for a time of 2:39.26 in the 800 meters which was good for third place. Selle was also third in the high jump with a height of 4-10.25 which earned her 599 points.

Ethen competed in the high jump and triple jump while Kenning took part in the long jump and triple jump. Ethen was eighth in the high jump at 4-07.00 and sixth in the triple jump with a distance of 31-03.00. Kenning finished just ahead of Ethen in the triple jump with a personal-best mark of 33-08.50. She also placed seventh in the long jump with a final distance of 15-02.00.   
   
UP NEXT: Concordia's entire team will return to action when they head south to Aberdeen, S.D. to compete at the Northern State Open on Saturday, Apr. 24.
