Herrmann Adds The 600 School Record

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. (3/06/21)---Josie Herrmann capped the indoor regular season by breaking another school record. Herrmann ran past the competition in the 600 meters at the St. Ben's/St. John's Invitational and crossed the finish line in a time of 1:37.20 which broke the 14-year-old record of 1:37.38 set by Heather Schuster.

As a team, Concordia came away with a pair of event wins and nine Top 5 finishes in the meet against MIAC opponents St. Ben's, St. Thomas and Gustavus.

Herrmann won the 600 meters by 5.81 seconds and was joined by fellow senior Meritt Miller as event winners for CC. Herrmann's time is also the fastest in the MIAC this year. She also owns Top 3 marks in the 800 meters and mile.

Miller continued her solid senior season by capturing first place in the mile. She clocked a career-best time of 5:18.44 which won the event by 2.17 seconds. Her time is the seventh fastest in school history and sixth best in the MIAC this year.

Junior Cayle Hovland had two Top 3 finishes on the day. She was second in the weight throw and third in the shot put. Hovland posted a distance of 51-02.25 in the weight throw and 40-08.75 in the shot put – both marks are shy of season bests where she is fourth in the MIAC in the weight throw and second in the shot put.

Like Hovland, Jacey Schlosser also recorded Top 5 finishes in both of the throw events. She was fourth in both disciplines. Schlosser had a mark of 39-03.25 in the shot put and 44-01.25 in the weight throw. Neither distance is a season best for Schlosser who is in the Top 10 of the conference in both events.

Junior Emily White gave the Cobbers five Top 5 finishes in the throw competitions. White was fifth in the weight throw at 42-05.75. White had a season-best mark in the shot put where she recorded a distance of 35-06.50 which was good for sixth place in the meet .

The other two Top 5 finishes on the day were turned in by field athlete Avery Kenning and track competitor Kelly Lorenz. Kenning was fifth in the long jump with a distance of 14-11.25. Lorenz earned her Top 5 finish in the 800 where she posted a personal-best time of 2:30.11 and finished fourth.
