Peterson Earns MIAC Weekly Honors

MOORHEAD, Minn. (4/18/17)--- Concordia senior Emma Peterson used a pair of Division III Top 15 marks to earn MIAC Field Athlete of the Week honors.

Peterson had season-best marks in the high jump and triple jump in Concordia's dual meet with MSU Moorhead to earn her second weekly conference award since the start of the New Year. Peterson was named the MIAC Indoor Field Athlete of the Week on Feb. 7 after breaking the school record in the high jump.

Peterson started her dual-meet excellence in the high jump where she cleared 5-06.00 and one the event by almost a full two inches. Peterson's winning height is a season best, the top mark in the MIAC this year and the 14th best height in Division III this season. Her height is only two inches shy of the best mark in the nation during the outdoor season.

Peterson then turned her attention to the triple jump pit where she won her second event of the day with a distance of 38-04.75. Her winning mark came after a pair of fouls which left her kicking the sand in the pit. She then posted a distance of 37-05.00 on her third attempt. Peterson saved her best for last as she flew 38-04.75 which won the event by over five feet and is tied for the 11th best distance in Division III this year. Her mark is also tied for the top spot in the conference.

Peterson's mark in the triple jump is also the third best in program history.

Concordia will continue with its spring season when they participate in the Lyle Hokanson Classic at North Dakota State on Sat. Apr. 22.
