Reeves Adds MIAC Indoor Meet Honor
MOORHEAD, Minn. (3/12/15)—Concordia senior Cherae Reeves has another honor to add to her ever-growing résumé. Reeves earned the MIAC Indoor Championship Meet Outstanding Performance-of-the-Meet award for her winning distance in the shot put last Saturday.
The award joins Reeves' two MIAC shot put championships as well as her multiple All-American honors.
Reeves earned the Meet Outstanding Performance-of-the-Meet award by posting a distance of 47-07.00 in her final attempt in the shot put to win her second straight MIAC indoor shot put title. Reeves was leading the competition going into her final toss but then added to the winning mark.
The final distance of 47-07.00 was nearly a foot better than the next competitor. She narrowly missed out on her conference-record mark of 47-10.00 which she set at last year's conference meet.
Reeves was one of three Cobber athletes to officially receive MIAC All-Conference awards on Thursday. Fellow senior Rochelle Hickerson won the long jump to earn her all-conference honor while junior Anna Skow-Anderson placed third in the heptathlon with a career-best mark of 2,800 points.
Junior Tara Anderson was the team's representative on the MIAC All-Sportsmanship Team.
Reeves will now gear up for the NCAA National Meet. She will compete at nationals on Saturday, Mar. 14 in Winston-Salem, N.C.
