Three Straight All-American Honors For Reeves

Three Straight All-American Honors For Reeves

LINCOLN, Neb. (3/15/14)—Cherae Reeves continued to push the Concordia school record in the shot put farther and farther out of reach as she posted a final distance of 48-07.25 and finished third at the NCAA National Indoor Meet at Nebraska Wesleyan. Reeves earns her third straight All-American honor and second straight NCAA Indoor All-American award.

Reeves continues to be one of the top throwers in the country. Last season she finished fourth at the NCAA Indoor Meet and third at the national outdoor meet. Not only does she continue to finish in the top 3 of the nation but she continues to get better and better. In 2013 she finished fourth at the national indoor meet with a distance of 46-09.00. Last week she set the MIAC Indoor record by putting up a mark of 47-10.00 at the conference meet. Reeves did that almost a foot better by going 48-07.25 at the NCAA Meet. Her top throw came in her sixth, and final, attempt of the competition. She was in fourth place heading into the final round with a mark of 46-11.00 and then jumped into the top 3 with her final toss.

Hilary Thompson also participated in the NCAA Indoor Meet for the Cobbers. Thompson was coming off a record-breaking performance at the MIAC Indoor Meet where she tied the conference meet record in the triple jump. Thompson wasn't able to duplicate her MIAC Meet performance but still came away with an 11th-place finish with a distance of 36-11.75. She was seven inches away from placing in the top 8 at the meet and earning All-American honors.

Reeeves and Thompson will now join their teammates to start the outdoor season. The Cobbers will hope to take advantage of the recent warm weather and take to the outdoor track when they compete at the St. Ben's Outdoor/Indoor Dual on Mar. 29.
