Reeves And Knickerbocker Shine At Bison Open

FARGO, N.D. (2/09/13)—Cherae Reeves and Hannah Knickerbocker continued their outstanding early-season indoor performances at the Division I NDSU Bison Open on Saturday. Knickerbocker recorded the only event win for Concordia while Reeves came away with the second best shot put distance in school history.

Reeves used the momentum from last week's shot put performance to come away with a career-best distance. Last week she had a final mark of 43-03.75, which was the fourth farthest in school history, and Saturday she bettered that with a mark of 44-08.25. That distance is the second farthest in school history.

Knickerboacker's final time of 10:42.23 in the 3000 meters won the race by a full 10, He final time is also nine seconds faster than her previous season best and is the seventh fastest in the MIAC this season.

Hilary Thompson, Nicole Woinarowicz and Morgan Christian had the other three top 5 finishes for Concordia at the meet. Thompson finished third in the triple jump and fifth in the long jump. She had a final mark of 36-02.00 in the triple jump which betters her previous season best of 35-06.00. That distance is the best in the MIAC this season and is within 10 inches of her career best. Thompson had a distance of 17-01.50 in the long jump which is a career best, the best mark in the conference this year and she becomes the first athlete to cross over the 17-foot plateau in the MIAC in 2013.

Woinarowicz finished third to Knickerbocker in the 3000 meters. Woinarowicz clocked an 11:01.68 in the race. That time is a career best and the 12th fastest in the MIAC this season. Christian was fourth in the 800 meters. She finished with a time of 2:20.30 which is a season best mark by almost three full seconds and the second best in the conference in 2013.

Concordia will continue their trek towards the MIAC Indoor Meet when they compete at the St. Ben's Quadrangular on Feb. 16 beginning at 11:30.
