Another Year-End Award For Jensen
MOORHEAD, Minn. (6/2/12)— Kaari Jensen
keeps adding hardware to her trophy case at the end of her junior
season. After earning NCAA All-American honors in the heptathlon,
Jensen was named the United States Track & Field and Cross
Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Central Region Field Athlete
of the Year.
Jensen follows a long line of Cobbers to win the top regional
award. Most recently Leah Kay won the award for
her prowess in the multi-events back in 2010.
Jensen just put the finishing touches on a season that saw her
finish fifth at the NCAA National Outdoor Meet in the heptathlon.
It marked the first time in her career that she has earned an
All-American award. The honor comes on the heels of Jensen earning
the MIAC Most Outstanding Performance of the Meet award.
She also set the MIAC, and Cobber, record in the event on her way
to winning the title at the conference meet. In addition, she also
won the javelin at the conference outdoor meet. Jensen also posted
top 10 finishes at the MIAC Meet in the 100-meter hurdles,
400-meter hurdles, long jump and triple jump.
Jensen was also named the MIAC Women's Field Athlete of the Week
on two different occasions during the season. She won the award on
May 7 and April 16.
