Zitur Named Head Tennis Coach

MOORHEAD, Minn. (8/01/18)---Concordia Athletic Director Rachel Bergeson announced that former Cobber tennis player and assistant coach Zach Zitur has been named the head coach for both the men's and women's tennis programs at Concordia.

Zitur takes over for Joseph Murrey who resigned to take an administrative position at his alma mater Toccoa Falls College in Toccoa Falls, Ga.

"I am sad to see Joseph leave because he did a great job with the tennis programs," Bergeson said. "I am excited for Zach because he is familiar with the programs and his passion and enthusiasm for the sport will help both teams continue to grow."

Zitur has six years of experience with the Cobber tennis programs. He was the assistant coach for both the men's and women's squads for the past two seasons and before that he was a member of the men's team from 2013-16.

Zitur helped the Cobbers reach the playoffs in the 2018 season – a feat that hadn't happened since the 2011 campaign.

"I love the fact that I get to take over the team that I played for and the other team I have been assistant coach for the last two seasons," Zitur commented. "I look forward to coaching players through their formative years of college and getting to interact with alumni."

Zitur was a member of the team's Top 6 starting players all four seasons while attending Concordia and collected the most singles wins of any player during that span from 2013-16.

Zitur graduated from Concordia in 2016 with a degree in Exercise Science.

In addition to his duties as assistant coach for Concordia for the past two seasons Zitur also served as the head boys' and girls' head coach at West Fargo HS.

Zitur also works as a tennis instructor at Courts Plus in Fargo where the Cobbers play their home matches during the winter months.

"It's a dream for me to have this opportunity and I can't wait to see what the future holds," Zitur added.
