Cobbers Return Home

FARGO, N.D. (3/13/16)—After playing away from the Fargo-Moorhead area for the past two weekends, Concordia returned home and lost a conference/non-conference doubleheader.

The Cobbers started the weekend by falling 9-0 to conference opponent St. Olaf on Saturday afternoon. Concordia then returned to the court for an early morning match-up with non-conference Division II foe University of Mary and also dropped a 9-0 decision.

The two losses knock the Cobbers' overall record to 0-11 on the season. CC is now 0-7 in MIAC play. The Oles remain unbeaten in league play and are now 4-0 against conference teams and 6-1 in all matches. The Marauders move to 4-8 overall.

On Saturday against St. Olaf, Concordia's three doubles teams all played solid matches but wound up falling short in the end. The No.1 doubles team of Brittany Glatt and Jade Haseltine and the No.3 doubles team of Susan Zniewski and Breann Adamek both lost by identical 8-3 scores.

The closes singles match came at No.6 where Adamek fell by a 6-3, 6-2 margin.

On Sunday it was the No.2 doubles team of Kendra Stoick and Lisa Neumann that came close to the win by getting edged 8-4.

Neumann then used the momentum from doubles play to battle in the tightest singles bout of the morning. Playing at No.4 singles, Neumann lost the first set 6-1 but then found her game and rebounded with a 6-3 victory in the second set. The super-set tie-breaker went back-and-forth until the very end with Neumann barely falling by a 10-7 margin.

The other two close singles matches came at No.5 and No.6 where Zniewski and Adamek both lost by identical 6-2, 6-3 scores.

WHAT'S NEXT
Concordia will play their fourth straight Saturday/Sunday doubleheader next weekend. It will also be the second straight weekend where they will face a non-conference opponent and an MIAC foe. The Cobbers will head due North to take on the University of North Dakota on Saturday, Mar. 19 and then return to Courts Plus in Fargo to host St. Mary's on Sunday, Mar. 20 starting at 8:30 a.m.
