A Tough Road Start To 2016

SARTELL, Minn. (2/14/16)—Concordia dropped a pair of MIAC matches on their first away weekend of the season. The Cobbers fell 9-0 at Bethel on Saturday and then lost 9-0 at St. Benedict on Sunday.

The two losses drop Concordia's overall record to 0-4 on the season. CC is 0-3 in MIAC matches this year.

Bethel remains unbeaten on the year at 5-0 and 1-0 in the MIAC while St. Benedict improves to 3-4 in all matches and 1-1 in conference play.

On Saturday Concordia started their match with the Royals by dropping all three doubles bouts. The No.2 and No.3 doubles tandems of Kendra Stoick and Lisa Neumann and Susan Zniewski and Breann Adamek both fell by identical 8-4 scores.  Both doubles matches were back-and-forth affairs that were settled at the end of the match.

Jade Haseltine produced the closest result in singles play as she lost 6-2, 7-5 at No.3 singles. It took Haseltine until the second set but then she battled her opponent until the very end.

Sunday's match once again saw CC dropping all three doubles matches. Haseltine and Brittany Glatt fell 8-3 at No.1 doubles.

Glatt then lost 6-2, 6-1 at No.1 singles while Haseltine dropped a 6-4, 6-1 decision at No.3 singles. Neumann fought hard in both sets at No.4 singles bought eventually lost 6-2, 6-3.

WHAT'S NEXT
Concordia will have a rare home/away conference/non-conference double dip next weekend. The Cobbers will host MIAC foe St. Catherine on Saturday, Feb. 20 at 2 p.m. at Courts Plus in Fargo and then hit the road for a non-conference match in St. Cloud with St. Cloud State on Sunday, Feb. 21 at 4 p.m. The Wildcats are 2-0 on the season and Saturday's match will be their conference opener. The Huskies are 1-3 on the year and have dropped decisions to MIAC opponents Carleton and St. Thomas.
