Inching Closer To Victory Lane

KISSIMMEE, Fla. (2/25/14)—Concordia continues to inch closer and closer to its first win of the season. The Cobbers battled Alma (Mich.) deep into singles play before finally losing 5-4.
 
Concordia grabbed the momentum in the match at the start by winning two out of the three doubles matches. The No.2 doubles tandem of Jade Haseltine and Morgan Sawatzke rolled to an 8-1 win. It would be the first of two victories on the day for Sawatzke. The newly formed doubles team of Rose Reinert  and Taylor Peterson won their second straight match in Florida by earning an 8-5 decision at No.3 doubles.

The six singles matches were all hotly contested with Concordia winning at No.3 and No.4 singles. Sawatzke won 6-3, 6-2 at No.4 singles to pick up her team-leading second singles win of the year. Kaitlyn Davies earned the other singles win of the morning for CC. She claimed a 7-5, 6-4 victory at No.3 singles. It was her first singles win of the season.

Concordia will have three more matches on their southern spring break tour in Florida. The Cobbers will face Davenport (Mich.) on Wednesday, Feb. 26 at 9 a.m.
