Futchko Named Head Tennis Coach

Steve Futchko was announced as the new women's and men's head tennis coach at Concordia. He becomes the first full-time head coach of the programs since the 2011 season.

"We are excited to have Steve as the full-time tennis coach for the men's and women's programs, said Concordia Athletic Director Rich Glas. "He will be a stable guide for both programs and help the teams start to get back into the thick of the MIAC race."

Futchko comes to Concordia after serving as the Director of Tennis for the Upland Tennis Club in Upland, Calif. He was responsible for building the junior and adult programs at the club and worked alongside the professionals to coordinate and grow the various competitive levels.

In addition, Futchko was also was a USPTA teaching professional and taught top nationally ranked juniors. One of Futchko's 18-year-old boys' tutelages rose to the No.1 ranking in Southern California and No.20 in the nation. Futchko's was also employed as a private instructor at the Upland Tennis Club and was a volunteer assistant for the Upland High School boys' and girls' tennis programs.  

Futchko had a standout collegiate career where he was the captain for Concordia University in Irvine, Calif. He was a scholarship player who played on the No.1 doubles team for the Eagles in 2006.

Futchko graduated from Concordia University in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in graphic design.
