Queen Of The IM Strikes Again

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (2/16/19)---The queen of the individual medley did it again on the second full day of the MIAC Championship Meet. Amy Warren broke her second individual medley school record at the meet as she topped her own mark in the 400-yard individual medley finals.

Warren was one of two Cobber swimmers to qualify for the "B" finals on Saturday night. Warren and Ciara White both posted Top 15 finishes and helped Concordia remain in eighth place in the team standings with one day left at the 4-day championship meet.

Warren qualified for the B final in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:49.53 and then dropped a full three seconds off that mark in the finals. She posted a time of 4:46.51 in the finals which was good for 12th place and bettered her own school record of 4:46.96 which she set at last year's MIAC meet.

White made her mark in the 100-yard breaststroke where she finished 15th with a time of 1:09.87. Her time in the finals was .05 a second faster than her prelims time when she qualified with a mark of 1:09.93.

The most dramatic moment of Saturday came in the 100-yard backstroke where senior Alaina Dehnke tied for the final qualifying spot in the B final and had to come back and have a swim off to determine the spot in the finals. Dehnke clocked a season-best time of 1:01.89 in the prelims which was a dead heat with a swimmer from Gustavus. The two athletes then went head-to-head and Dehnke was edged at the wall. Dehnke ended up placing 17th in the event.

The other Top 20 performances of the day for the Cobbers were turned in by a pair of freshmen. Alexandra Rasmussen posted a time of 1:13.71 in the 100-yard breaststroke and was 19th while fellow first-year athlete Abby Bartosiewski was 18th in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:04.14. She missed out on qualifying for the B final by 1.50 seconds.

Concordia will finish off the 2019 season when they compete in the fourth day at the MIAC Meet. The prelims are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. with the finals taking place at 6:30 p.m.
