Warren Leads Splash Down In 2019

WEST FARGO, N.D. (1/19/19)---Amy Warren posted a quartet of season-best times to lead Concordia at the Dragon Invite held at the Hulbert Aquatic Center in West Fargo. The meet was the first competition of 2019 for the Cobbers as they are less than a month away from the MIAC Championship Meet.  

Warren was also one of three Cobber swimmers to record Top 5 finishes at the meet. Seniors Ciara White and Alaina Dehnke also came away with times in the Top 5 of individual events in a meet that featured a pair of NCAA Division II scholarship schools.

Warren had a pair of fourth-place finishes in the meet among her four season-best marks. Her top drop in time came in the 100-yard individual medley where she touched the wall in the finals in 1:05.53 which was 2.64 seconds faster than her seed time. Warren took fourth in that event. She also placed fourth in the 200-yard individual medley where she clocked a 2:20.51. That mark was 1.10 seconds faster than her seed time.    

Warren's other two events where she dropped time came in the 50 and 100-yard butterfly competitions. She swam a 29.04 in the 50-yard butterfly and finished sixth and was seventh in the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:04.07.

White had three different Top 5 finishes at the meet. She was fourth in the 50-yard breaststroke in a time of 34.78. White added a pair of fifth-place finishes to her results sheet. She was fifth in the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:14.78 and touched the wall in 2:39.35 in the 200-yard breaststroke.

Dehnke came away with the biggest drop on time among the Top 5 finishers. She raced to a 2:18.18 in the 200-yard backstroke which was 4.33 seconds faster than her seed time. She also dropped .79 of a second, and placed eighth, in the 100-yard backstroke.

Concordia's top finish in a relay event came from the 200-yard freestyle quartet of Lydia Larson, Anna Backes, Abby Bartosiewski and Warren who placed sixth in a time of 1:48.87.

UP NEXT: Concordia will continue to train and compete toward the MIAC Championship Meet as they host the annual Senior Meet on Friday, Jan. 25 at 7 p.m. against Minn.-Morris.
