Four Event Wins In Season-Opening Dual

MORRIS, Minn.(11/03/18)---Concordia recorded four event wins and had six runner-up finishes but lost 143-87 in the first dual meet of the season.

Senior Alaina Dehnke started the individual-event wins for the Cobbers when she was victorious in the 1000-yard freestyle in a time of 11:52.73. Dehnke also placed second in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:08.08.

Sophomore Anna Backes made it back-to-back wins for Concordia to start the meet as she claimed the win in the 200-yard freestyle. Backes would also go on to place second in the 500-yard freestyle with a mark of 5:49.57.

Concordia had to wait four events for their next win when freshman Abby Bartosiewski swam a 1:05.92 in the 100-yard butterfly and won the event by five seconds. Bartosiewski also finished third in the 200-yard individual medley.

The final event win of the meet came from sophomore Amy Warren who raced to a 5:36.36 in the 500-yard freestyle. Warren also posted one of the second-place finishes on the day as she was runner-up in the 200-yard individual medley. The freshman duo of Alexandra Rasmussen and Katelynn Smith had two second-place finishes for CC. Rasmussen touched the wall in 27.85 to finish second in the 50-yard freestyle and Smith was second in the 100-yard freestyle at 59.41.

Allison Marcus posted the final runner-up mark as she came home in 1:21.15 in the 100-yard breaststroke.
