A Double Dip In St. Paul

ST. PAUL, Minn. (1/27/18)---Concordia headed to St. Paul for a pair of dual meets and came away with several event wins as they continue on the road to the MIAC Championship Meet.

The Cobbers were narrowly defeated 57-51 at Hamline on Friday and then fell 133-86 at St. Catherine on Saturday.

Freshman Amy Warren was the only Cobber to win events in both meets. Warren claimed the title in the 200-yard individual medley at Hamline in a time of 2:21.63. She bettered teammate Allison Marcus by 9.05 seconds. Warren then clocked a 1:04.83 in the 100-yard butterfly against St. Catherine on Saturday and won the race by 2.13 seconds. Her winning time in the 100-yard butterfly is a season best and in the Top 25 of the MIAC this season.

Concordia's dual with Hamline on Friday came down to the final event of the meet. The 200-yard freestyle relay decided the entire team dual as the Pipers out-touched the Cobbers by posting a winning time of a mere .14 seconds faster.

Concordia had five athletes earn event wins against the Pipers. Besides the win from Warren in the 200-yard individual medley, Anna Backes won the 200-yard freestyle, Ann Marie O'Connell claimed the victory in the 100-yard butterfly, Cassandra Bohnsack won both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events and Ciara White placed first in the 100-yard breaststroke.

Backes had the first win of the meet for CC as she touched the wall in 2:06.34 in the 200-yard freestyle. That mark is a season best time.

Warren would then post her win two events later before Bohnsack won the 1-meter event. She would go on to capture the 3-meter competition later in the meet. Her scores in the 1-meter were once again good enough to qualify for the MIAC Championship Meet.

O'Connell, who is starting to find her form after spending the first semester studying abroad, sped to a 1:10.55 in the 100-yard butterfly.

White was the final event winner at Hamline. She posted a time of 1:14.10 in the 100-yard breaststroke and won the event by 1.06 seconds.

Warren was the only event winner on Saturday but the Cobbers had several runner-up finishes. Warren was second in the 200-yard breaststroke in a time of 2:41.26 while Backes was second in the 50-yard freestyle and Bohnsack was runner-up in the 1-meter dive event.
