Sophomores Lead The Way At Dual With Dragons

MOORHEAD, Minn. (11/08/14)—A pair of sophomores led Concordia in their second dual meet of the season. The Cobbers got solid performances from Libby Hardwick and Sarah Nelson but wound up losing at MSU Moorhead 134-60.

Hardwick raced to third-place finishes in the 100-yard backstroke and 200-yard individual medley while Nelson was fifth in the 100-yard butterfly.

Hardwick swam a 1:04.06 in the 100-yard backstroke. That time is less than two seconds off her season-best time in all of last year and just 1.66 seconds off the time that earned the last spot in the consolation final at the MIAC Championship Meet. Hardwick then clocked a 2:32.51 in the 200-yard individual medley.

Nelson earned her top 5 finish in the 100-yard butterfly by finishing in a time of 1:04.43. That time is seven seconds faster than any CC swimmer posted at the same meet last year. It is also faster than any other Cobber swam in all of last season.

The dual meet with the Dragons was also the first opportunity for the Cobber dive squad to compete. Concordia had a trio of divers compete in the 1-meter competition. Senior Kayla Rauchwarter led the CC contingent. She finished with a final total of 155.20 in the voluntary portion of the competition.

Concordia will host its only home meet of the season when they dual St. Benedict on Saturday, Nov. 15 at 1 p.m.
