The Beginning Of The End Of The Regular Season

NORTHFIELD, Minn. (1/25/13)—Concordia started its last weekend of the regular season by swimming in a tightly contested dual meet with St. Olaf. The Cobbers had eight career best times and 18 season bests but were edged 157-128.

It was a bookend meet for the Cobbers as a senior and three freshmen provided the biggest highlights. Senior Amanda Suchanek had a pair of career-best times in the 1000-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke while first-year athletes Kasey Lyng had career bests in the 500-yard freestyle and 100-yard breaststroke, Jordyn Olson came away with her personal best times in the 200-yard freestyle and 200-yard individual medley and diver Jana Hedstrom had her career-best score in the 1-meter competition.

Overall, Hedstrom was the only individual event winner in the meet for Concordia. She  won both sections of the 1-meter event. Hedstrom captured the voluntaries portion with a score of 153.05 and then scored 204.25 in the optional and won that event by almost 13 points.

Concordia will finish off their two-meet weekend when they participate in the St. Kate's Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 26 beginning at 8:30 a.m.
