No Tricks And All Treats At Morris Relays

MORRIS, Minn. (10/26/12)—Concordia started their competitive season by participating in the annual UM-Morris Relays on Friday. The Cobbers came away with three event wins – in the relay only format – including the unique t-shirt relay.

The Cobbers claimed event wins in the 200-yard butterfly relay and the 200-yard backstroke relay before winning the highly-competitive t-shirt race.

The 200-yard butterfly relay team of Amanda Suchanek, Greta Nycklemoe, Kasey Lyng and Emily Erickson swam a 2:06.22 to win the event by almost 7 seconds. That time is almost 10 seconds faster than the Concordia relay team swam at last year's Morris relays.

Concordia followed that win by claiming the very next event – the 200-yard backstroke relay. CC newcomers Jordan Peterson and Jordyn Olson teamed with veterans Kelsey Appert and Greta Titus to swim a 2:08.50. That mark is a full second from last year's quartet that also event at the season-opening invite.

The Cobbers saved their best for last as they once again handily won the t-shirt relay. It marked the sixth straight season that a Concordia relay team has won the final event at the UM-Morris Relays. This year Appert and Titus paired with Rachel Aldinger and Alexis Philbrick to swim, and change, their way to a 1:24.52. That time is the fastest for any t-shirt relay team since 2008.

Concordia will now open up the dual-meet portion of its schedule when they host St. Kate's on Saturday, Nov. 3 at 1 p.m.
