Day 2 Prelim Results | Day 2 Finals Results | Interviews

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (2/17/12)—Concordia used the second day of the MIAC Championship Meet to pick up valuable team points and jump one spot into eighth place heading into the final day of competition. The Cobbers now have 102 team points and are solidly locked into their pre-race seed spot.

For the second straight day of the meet a Cobber relay team stole the show at the night session. The 800-yard freestyle team of Kirsten Anderson, Greta Titus, Kelsey Appert and Alexis Philbrick all swam career best times and finished in eighth place with a time of 8:35.61. The previous season best for a Cobber relay team was 9:20.21.

The top individual point getters for Concordia on the second day were divers Alison Hall and Molly Hansvick. The duo posted a pair of top 10 finishes in the 3-meter diving event. Hall was ninth with a final total of 321.35 points while Hansvick was right behind, placing 10th with a final score of 320.30.

Freshman Hannah Winge was the lone Cobber swimming individual finalist for the night. She entered the meet seeded 21st in the 100-yard breaststroke and then proceeded to uncork a 1:11.26 in the prelim heats and qualified for the finals in the No.13 spot. She then bettered that time by racing to a 1:10.70 in the consolation final and finished in 12th place. Her finishing time is a career best by over three seconds.

Overall, every Concordia swimmer that competed on Friday posted a personal best time. The biggest cut from an individual came in the 400-yard individual medley where freshmen Emily Erickson took a full nine seconds off her career best time by swimming a 5:18.83

The Cobbers will finish off the 2012 MIAC Meet when they compete on Saturday, Feb. 18 at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center. Preliminary heats begin at 10:30 a.m. and the finals are slated to start at 6:30 p.m.
