"Off" Day Produces 11 Season Bests

ABERDEEN, S.D. (12/09/11)--Despite six career-best times, Concordia wound up losing to Northern State 203-52 in Aberdeen on Friday. The Cobbers swam their "off" events against the Wolves and also came away with 11 season-best marks.

Concordia had nine top 3 finishes at the meet and was led by freshmen Emily Erickson and Hannah Winge and sophomore Kelsey Appert who all had a pair of top 3 times. Erickson finished second in the 200-yard individual medley and third in the 100-yard breaststroke while Winge was second in the 200-yard breaststroke and third in the 100-yard backstroke. Erickson's time of 1:19.97 in the breaststroke was one of the career-best marks for CC. Appert claimed a pair of third-place finishes in the spring freestyle events.

Greta Titus continued to excel in the first leg of her first collegiate season. She had a pair of career bests. She posted a time of 2:11.40 in the 200-yard freestyle and also had a PR in the 100-yard butterfly with a mark of 1:12.32. Alexis Philbrick has also shown success in her first year as a Cobber. She had career bests in the 200-yard freestyle (2:10.87) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:54.60) where she recorded a runner-up finish. Greta Nycklemoe produced the final career best time. She swam a 2:53.28 in the 200-yard individual medley and placed fourth.

Concordia will now have an extended period away from the pool for the Christmas. The Cobbers will return to action on Jan. 3 at the Orange Bowl Classic which is part of their annual training trip to Florida.
