Halftime Leads Dissolves In Second Half

MOORHEAD, Minn. (9/24/22)---Grace Lawlor's first-half, breakaway goal gave Concordia a 1-0 lead at the break, but it didn't hold up as the Cobbers gave up three goals in the final 45 minutes of play and lost 3-1 to Carleton.

The Knights were able to score their three goals in a span of 17-minutes midway through the second half to remain unbeaten in league play on the season.

The Cobbers are now 3-3-1 in all games and 0-2-1 in conference play. Carleton moves to 7-1-0 and 3-0-0 in the MIAC.

Lawlor gave Concordia a 1-0 lead in the 38th minute of play. She got behind the Carleton defense before the ball was played, but since she was still on her own half of the field, she wasn't in an offside position. Lawlor raced on to the through ball from Chloe Sollum and dribbled unto the penalty area, before burying the ball in the top right part of the net.

The goal at 37:50 was Lawlor's fourth of the year. Sollum recorded her second helper of the year, and Amber Weibye was credited with the second assist for playing the ball to Sollum.

Carleton's trio of game-winning goals came off of a cross at the 60:35 mark, on a penalty kick at 69:11 and final on a 2-on-1 break at 77:53.

The Cobbers were outshot 22-9 in total shots and 10-6 on shots on goal.

Senior Sophia Robinson led CC with four shots and two on frame. Sollum also had two shots on goal for CC.

Junior goalie Kaitlin Petrich made seven saves in goal for the Cobbers.

UP NEXT: Concordia will head into Wisconsin for a midweek non-conference game. The Cobbers will play at Wis.-Eau Claire on Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 7:30 p.m.
