Early Chances Not Enough In Finale

NORTHFIELD, Minn. (11/02/19)---Concordia had several early chances in their season finale at St. Olaf but couldn't find the back of the net and lost 3-0.

The Cobbers finish the year with a 9-9-0 overall record and a 2-9-0 mark in MIAC play. The Oles cap 2-19 with a similar .500 record at 8-8-2. They were also .500 in the conference at 5-5-1.

Concordia had chances to take a 1-0 lead in the first 25 minutes of play. Freshman Sophia Robinson had a shot on goal in the 12th minute of play that was turned aside by the Ole goalie. Senior Kalli Baarstad then had a shot blocked less than a minute later.

CC earned a corner kick in the 23rd minute and then Klara Beinhorn had a shot saved after the ensuing possession.

The game changed when St. Olaf scored against the run of play at 31:55.

The Cobbers had a pair of chances to tie the game before the break but shots on frame from Megan Barnick and Karsen Granning were also stopped by the keeper.

St. Olaf doubled their lead in the 52nd minute of play and then put the game out of reach with a third strike at 68:46.

Concordia finished with nine total shots in the game and six shots on goal. Baarstad and Kay Franzese both had two shots to lead CC.

Junior Erin Larsen started in goal for Concordia and made 12 saves in 82:47 of action. Sophomore Taviahna Tanin finished off the final 7:13 to earn her first college keeping experience.
