Cobbers Fall At Bethel

ARDEN HILLS, Minn. (9/21/19)--- Concordia outscored undefeated Bethel 2-1 in the second quarter but unfortunately for the Cobbers, the Royals 4-goal first half proved to be the difference as CC fell 5-2 in Arden Hills.

The loss is the second straight to start the conference season for the Cobbers. Concordia is now 5-2 overall.

Bethel started the 4-goal first half by scoring in the fourth minute of play. They then added a pair of goals 48-seconds apart towards the mid-point of the period and added a fourth at 34:18.

The Cobbers got on the board at the 71:39 mark when Karsen Granning headed home a loose ball after a Concordia corner kick. The unassisted strike was Granning's team-leading eighth of the year and she now has 19 points. Granning's previous best single season was last year when she had six goals and 13 total points.

Granning is now third in the MIAC in both overall goals and total points.

Junior Klara Beinhorn got Concordia within two goals 12 minutes later. She hammered a shot into the right top-hand corner from 23 yards out at the 83:35 mark. It was Beinhorn's fourth goal of the season and, like Granning, she is enjoying the best scoring season of her career.

Bethel stopped the Cobbers' momentum when they finished off the scoring at the 87:01 mark.

The Cobbers were outshot 22-14 in total shots and 15-9 in shots on goal. CC held a 6-3 edge in corner kicks.

Granning led the team with four total shots and three shots on goal.

Sophomore goalie Lexi Jemtrud made 10 saves. The 10 saves is a season-high for Jemtrud.
