Cobbs Stay Undefeated with 7-0 Win

Moorhead, Minn. (9/14/2019)- The Concordia College women's soccer team is now 5-0 with a dominating 7-0 win over Buena Vista University on Saturday afternoon.

The Cobber women controlled the game from the start, scoring five of their seven goals in the first half. The first goal coming at the 21:25 mark from senior  Kalli Baarstad, assisted from Karsen Granning. Sarah Liimatta scored the second Cobber goal with junior Klara Beinhorn scoring not twenty seconds later giving the Cobbers and early 3-0 lead. Granning, who is coming off a three-goal performance in her last outing, got into the scoring mix, putting one past the Buena Vista goalie at the 29:17 mark. First year Cobber Samantha Holmberg scored her first collegiate goal from an assist by teammate Josie Schahn just before the half giving the Cobbers a 5-0 advantage. 

The second half was all Cobbers starting with sophomore Kay Franzese scoring the Cobbers sixth goal of the game, and her 3rd of the season, coming off assist number two for Granning. Granning, then added the seventh and final goal for the Cobbers, from Lauren Tschider at the 61:43 mark. 

Concordia tallied 44 shots in total, 26 of them on goal, while for the second consecutive game did not allow a shot from their opponent. 

Granning led the Cobbers on the day tallying two goals and two assists, the senior now leads the MIAC in points and is tied for first in goals scored.
