Season-Opening Win

ABERDEEN, S.D. (8/30/19)--- Concordia scored goals in each half against Presentation and came away with a 3-0 win in Aberdeen in the season opener.

Concordia needed a 15-minute warm-up period in the first real game of the year to get their offense on track. The Cobbers spent the first few minutes in their own end of the field but then broke out as they started to get their "game legs" back.

The Cobbers earned the game-winning goal in the 36th minute of the first half when sophomore Kay Franzese was able to get free of the defense and tally her first collegiate goal. Junior Sarah Liimatta picked up the first of her three points on the day as she earned the assist on the play.

The teams went into the break with the 1-0 score on the board. Concordia then added an insurance goal in the first seven minutes of the second period when Klara Beinhorn scored at the 51:13 mark.

Liimatta finished off the scoring in the final 10 minutes of the game with a goal at 80:32. Junior Samantha Dalsin set up the final goal to pick up her fourth assist in the past two seasons in maroon and gold.

Sophomore goalie Lexi Jemtrud got her first collegiate start and picked up her first collegiate shutout. She stopped five shots to earn the win.

Concordia outshot Presentation 23-11 in the game and held a 16-5 edge in shots on goal.
